Writing Portfolio:

My one book so far is an introductory math history and biography of Leonardo Pisano, aka Fibonacci, the 13th-century genius mathematician whose math books helped change the world.

Written for college-level readers, students of math and history will learn about the man who wanted to share what he had learned from brilliant math teachers and merchants in his extensive travels throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean nations in the late 12th and early 13th centuries.

POETRY

A few years ago I was active in the writers’ community on Instagram, where I posted hundreds of photos containing short poems and prose. At the time I did not consider compiling my writings in a book, so I did not save most of those posts to my computer. When IG abruptly and without warning permanently suspended my @shellennessee account in 2021, I lost most of my poems along with the account.

Since I had shared some of them on other social media sites and via tags on other IG accounts, I have been able to recover a few, which I share here to give you an idea of the kind of poems I like to write. One day I may write a poetry book after all.
